A few months ago I had the pleasure of photographing Ricky and Becky’s engagement photo shoot at Rhinefield House, the setting for their wedding day. It was a long time since the couple had booked me, some 14 months ago, so it was really great to catch up and see how all of their wedding plans were slotting together.
As the preferred photographer to Rhinefield House I get to photograph at this Hampshire wedding venue more than most. I love every time I photograph here and the grandeur and stunning grounds never cease to amaze me.
We started Ricky and Becky’s engagement photo shoot with a walk along the beautiful pond capturing some lovely moments as they walked towards the iconic blue gates at the bottom of the gardens. Once there we did a few posed photographs before heading back up to the main house where my favourite part of Rhinefield sits. The Avenue of Tree’s, as I like to call it, provides a wonderful frame to photographs and depending on the time of year can produce a sumptuous silhouette or stunning streaks of sun through dappled shade. It also has a view of the New Forest which is like no other and provides a beautiful backdrop to your photographs. When I take my couples there I just say to them have fun and do what you want, I will do the rest and Ricky & Becky were fantastic with this small guideline. They did Strickly Come Dancing dips, kisses, and even a piggy back ride (probably not something I would suggest in a wedding drew but for an engagement photo shoot it was perfect as you will see from the photographs below). All in all a stunning hour photographing a wonderful couple who will no doubtedly have the most amazing wedding day at Rhinefield.
The majority of my photography is based on capturing fleeting moments however an engagement photo shoot is not only a great idea to help get to know your photographer but also to let them go through any posing you will need for your wedding day. This can be daunting to some couples but rest assured I make it as fun as possible and use ‘posing’ in the loosest sense of the word ;). I include an engagement photo shoot with all of my wedding collections as I believe it is a wonderful time for every couple which should be captured on camera and helps me to get to know my clients so much better.
