Being a Dorset wedding photographer I get to photograph at some stunning locations and this Dorset engagement photo shoot was no exception.
The setting for Steph and Andy’s engagement photo shoot on a sunny, and very windy, Sunday afternoon in March was the stunning Old Harry’s Rocks near Sandbanks. A cliff face which over looks Poole Harbour, the Isle of White and produces some quite remarkable views of the Dorset countryside. This was also the setting for when Andy popped the question to Steph and when they suggested it to me I knew it would be make perfect location for their engagement photo shoot.
As I had not photographed at this location before I spent the first 10 minutes having a look around to find the best backdrop for the couples engagement photographs. I also wanted to see where the best light was to compliment their photographs. The light was not a problem as we were closing in on sunset so had a gorgeous soft, yellowy light however being so high the wind was pretty fierce. We started over looking Poole Harbour and then moved around the cliff face to include the sea, Isle of White and Old Harry’s Rocks whilst also incorporating some lovely emotional moment between Andy and Steph. On our way back to the car I saw an opportunity for some really quite remarkable photographs as the sun caused a haze across the Dorset countryside and was too good to miss.
Steph and Andy are set to tie the knot in a couple of weeks at All Saints Church in Chalbury, Wimbourne and then have their wedding reception at the gorgeous Harbour Heights Hotel near Sandbanks. I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding day and I’m sure it will prove to be a very emotional day. Steph’s parents were married at the same church as well as Steph being christened there, so has a very special place in the hearts of her family. For now though please enjoy the small collection of photographs below from the couples engagement photo shoot.
