Alice and Chris’s Pitt Hall Barn wedding photography was such a joy to capture from start to finish. The couple were wonderful to work with and every detail of their wedding was thought out perfectly. From bespoke signs for the Pageboys – a little surprise for Chris – to table names which celebrated their 10 years together as a couple. It was truly remarkable the amount of effort that this couple had put into their special day.
As a documentary wedding photographer I was the ideal choice for Alice and Chris as they both stressed when we first met that they did not like to be in front of the camera and loved the natural style to my portfolio. A lot of my coverage at any wedding is classed as documentary or photojournalistic capturing moments that couples will want to remember their special day by. So as I parked up for the bridal prep at Alice’s parents house I knew exactly what I was going to achieve for this Pitt Hall Barn wedding.
The Bridal preparations were such fun to be a part of!! All of the girls were laughing practically all of the time and there was such a great buzz in the room, this coupled with the smell of cooked bacon made for an incredible morning. The ceremony space at Pitt Hall Barn barn is not the easiest I have photographed in with the main light source being behind the couple but knowing how to work with this can reap rewards in the photography and it showed as I was able to capture some lovely fleeting moments during the vows. A little clenched fist from Alice as Chris said ‘I DO’ was one of the highlights with this moment taking some 10 years for her to wait for.
Shortly after the ceremony I took the Bride and Groom away to get some time alone together and I chose the farmland as well as the stunning bluebell filed as both offer completely different backdrops for the photographs. The reception drinks flew by and it was soon time for the wedding breakfast and then speeches. The speeches were hilarious and provided some wonderful moments for me to capture.
I wanted to finish Alice and Chris’s wedding collection with a stand out ‘wow factor’ nighttime photograph using the festoon lighting within grounds at Pitt Hall Barn. You can pose couples and ask them to do things but to be honest the best images are always the natural ones and this nighttime photograph was just before I had asked them to do anything. A precious moment together on their wedding day.
A huge thank you to all of the team at Pitt Hall Barn for making the day run so smoothly and effortlessly. I really hope to be working at this gorgeous much more in the future.
